JONATHAN
WILSON II

FOR DURHAM COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

WHY AM I RUNNING?

As a criminal defense attorney, I have first-hand knowledge of the cycle of violence that plagues many in our community. I have both defended the accused and represented countless victims. We must ensure that safety is our paramount concern as we implement practical, and immediately employable solutions to prevent crime and protect victims —while also addressing the inequities that lead to crime and recidivism.

My deep connection to the community and over fifteen years of practice in the Durham County Courthouse will allow me to make an immediate impact on the administration of justice in Durham. I am all too familiar with the inefficiencies and unnecessary delays impeding the disposition of criminal cases in Durham. If elected, I will take immediate action to address those inefficiencies.

To put it simply, I am running because our community deserves better. All Durham residents deserve to feel safe in the County they call home. We deserve to live in a safe community where our children can thrive and prosper, crimes are prosecuted fairly and efficiently, and both victims and the accused are treated with dignity and care. Together we can break the unfortunate stigma of criminality in Durham and collectively move our County in the right direction.

My Priorities

COLLABORATION

Foster real collaboration by authentically engaging with community groups and leaders to address their concerns and promote fairness and equity in the criminal justice system

PRESENCE

Durham County deserves a District Attorney who is present in the courthouse and in the community who will work in the trenches alongside prosecutors, case managers, and community advocates to resolve cases and enforce fair and equitable policies

RESTORATION

Restore faith and confidence in the District Attorney’s office by ensuring transparency and accountability with aggrieved citizens and the community at-large
